Haakon Fossen is professor of structural geology at the University of Bergen. He holds a cand.scient. degree from the University of Bergen, and a PhD degree from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. His research involves hardrock structural geology in the Caledonides of Scandinavia and petroleum-related deformation of sandstone reservoirs. Fossen had been an employee of Statoil for about 10 years when he started his position at the University of Bergen in 1996. For an overview of publications etc., see his home page.

Roy Gabrielsen is director of the science department of the Norwegian Research Council, but will be holding a professorship of petroleum geology at the University of Oslo from September 2006. Gabrielsen has extensive experience from norwegian oil companies and universities. His research has focused on rift-related tectonics and structural geology, with special emphasis on the North Sea rift system. Roy is the coauthor of six chapters of the Norwegian version of the textbook.

Tord Erlend Skeie Johansen is a PhD candidate from the University of Bergen who has specialized on faulting of porous sandstones. His cand.scient. thesis (MSc equivalent) was on the structural evolution of the Gullfaks area in the northern North Sea. Tord joined Statoil (Stavanger) in 2005 as a regional/structural geologist, although he has yet to complete his PhD degree in Bergen... You can learn more about his work at his homepage. Tord has done a fantastic job producing all of the e-learning modules for this project - the modules that you can find elswhere on this site.
